MLB odds:   Last year the Boston Red Sox went from a last place team that was among the biggest losers on the betting board in 2012 to a World Series champion that was among the most profitable in any sport.  This year the Red Sox have gone into reverse again as a losing team with some of the biggest losses on the board in 2014.  The New York Yankees have been consistently inconsistent and seem to be a team at a fork in the road moment in their history.  The New York Yankees will host the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium on Sunday night with coverage on ESPN starting at 8:05 PM ET.

In the Red Sox

Boston was -1345 units overall and -1063 units on the run line.  Boston ranked 24th for run production and 14th for staff earned run average.  The past three seasons have been a remarkable roller coaster ride for Boston.

Yankees Struggle to Break Even

The Yankees were 17-18 at home and were –94 units overall and -585 units on the run line.  The Yankees ranked 20th for run production and 21st for staff ERA.  New York ranked 21st for quality starts.

The Pick

The Boston Red Sox have won 11 out of their last 20 games with the New York Yankees as just 7 out of the last 18 meetings between the Yankees and Red Sox have gone under the total.  The Yankees have won 11 out of their last 20 home games against the Red Sox with an even 10-10 split on over under totals in those 20 games at Yankee Stadium.  We’ll call for the underdog and over the total.
