MLB Picks:   The Arizona Diamondbacks season ended before it began with a horrible start that put them in the basement of the National League East and bankrupted baseball bettors who were foolish enough to back them.  The Atlanta Braves are a one-dimensional team with great pitching but no hitting and that is why they have not been able to assert a good lead in the National League East.

The Atlanta Braves will host the Arizona Diamondbacks at Turner Field on Saturday afternoon with coverage starting at 4:10 PM ET.

Half a Team

The Braves were 20-18 at home and in a neck in neck race with Washington in the NL East.  Atlanta ranked 29th for run production but 5th for earned run average and 1st for quality pitching starts.

Busting Bankrolls

Arizona was -1424 betting units overall and an even worse -2240 betting units on the run line.  The Dbacks ranked 21st for run production and 27th for earned run average.  Arizona ranked 28th for quality pitching starts and committed the most errors in MLB.

The Pick

Heading into this series the Braves have won 13 out of their last 19 games with the Diamondbacks with just 3 out of the last 10 games between the Dbacks and Braves going over the total.  The Braves have won 13 out of their last 16 home games against Arizona with just 5 out of the last 17 games between the Braves and Dbacks in Atlanta going under the total.  The Braves took 2 out of 3 against Arizona earlier this season in the desert.  While the betting line will most likely be high for the Braves they are the only choice in this one!
