MLB Picks: Pitching Matchup Favors the Miami Marlins on Friday vs. the Atlanta Braves

MLB Betting:  The Atlanta Braves visit the Miami Marlins on Friday with the home team expected to have the pitching edge. The Braves should be sending Aaron Harang to the mound and he has officially hit the wall, losing three of his last four starts.  On the other side, the Marlins are expected to send Jarred Cosart who has allowed just two earned runs in his last 27.2 innings of work.  Here is a look at the game and MLB picks.

Probable Pitchers – Harang vs. Cosart

The Braves were thrilled with Harang for the first few months but not so much anymore.  His overall numbers are still okay as he is 10-9 with a 3.64 ERA but lately he has really struggled.  He has gone less than six innings in his last three losses, he is 1-2 with a 4.66 ERA in his last three starts and he is 0-2 with a 5.10 ERA this season against the Marlins plus he is 0-1 with an 8.76 in two starts at Marlins Park.  In his career, Harang is 5-6 with a 5.92 ERA against the Marlins.

Jarred Cosart continues to pitch well for the Marlins. He is now 3-1 since coming over from Houston with a 1.64 ERA. This will be his second straight start against the Braves and he shut them down last time out as he allowed no runs in seven plus innings of work.  He has an ERA of 0.65 in his last four starts. He is 2-0 in his last three starts overall. He has simply owned the Braves with a 2-0 career mark against them with a 0.64 ERA.

Game Notes

This is the first game of a three-game series.  The teams played last weekend in Atlanta and the games were low scoring. The Braves have taken six of the last ten in Miami but the games have been higher scoring with four of the last six going over. The Braves have not been a great road team this season with a 33-36 record while the Marlins have been solid at home with a record above .500.

MLB Picks

The matchup on the mound definitely favors the Marlins in this one so we’ll look for the home team to get the win.
