MLB Picks:  The Detroit Tigers have been stuck in a peculiar baseball betting pattern of winning more games than they lose on the field and enough to lead the American League Central Division but not enough to make a profit with the MLB Odds as they have proven to be a consistent overlay as the best team in a weak division.  The Tampa Bay Rays have finally had their lack of a big time roster catch up with them with big losses on the board after seeming to “do it with mirrors” as a team that outperformed their actual ability for the past several years.  The Detroit Tigers will host the Tampa Bay Rays Sunday night at Comerica Park with coverage on ESPN starting at 8 PM ET.

Rays Don’t Shine

Tampa Bay was -2470 betting units overall and -2539 betting units on the run line as they ranked 24th for run production and 26th for quality starts.  They were 18-24 on the road and went over the total in just 17 out of 42 away games.

Leading the Central

Detroit led the AL Central but was -43 betting units overall.  The Tigers strength was offense as they ranked 5th for run production.

The Pick

The Detroit Tigers have won 14 out of their last 20 games against the Tampa Bay Rays with just 2 out of the last 18 games between the Tigers and Rays going over the total.  Detroit has won 13 out of their last 20 home games against Tampa Bay with just 5 out of the last 16 games between Tampa Bay and Detroit at Comerica Park going over the total.  We’ll call for Detroit and under the total!
