MLS 2016 Super Draft Results

Just about a week or so ago, the MLS Super Draft wrapped up in Baltimore, Maryland.

Right before the draft we gave out the draft order and trade updates, so now that all of the transactions are in the books, it is time to reveal the results of the draft here at GMS.

Let’s of course start with the pick Chicago made to start it all off, which came in the form of England native Jack Harrison.

Harrison is one of seven players who are part of the Generation Adidas program, which encourages early entry to the draft without having graduated college for American players.

Along with Harrison, Josh Yaro (Philly), Omar Holness (RSL), Fabian Herbers (Philly), Richie Laryea (Orlando City), Andrew Tarbell (San Jose), and Julian Buescher (DC United) are recognized as part of the Generation Adidas team.

Generation Adidas players do not count as roster spots against the MLS senior designation, which usually provides players a much higher salary than the league minimum.

As a Generation Adidas player, he will automatically be classified as a professional, which will disqualify them from playing college soccer again.

Generation Adidas players are also guaranteed scholarships to continue their college education, should their professional career take a turn in a different direction due to injury etc.

Here are the results of the 2016 MLS Super Draft, listed as…
