MLS Daily Fantasy Lineup: Bill Hamid Set To Take Goal

Hamid's our keeper for this week.

With the MLS season winding down, the pressure is on the teams competing for playoff spots as well as those competing for the top spot in their respective conferences. That will definitely be the case for the four teams in action this Sunday and there is no doubt we took that in to consideration when building our fantasy roster for this weekend’s slate.

Here is a look at our optimal lineup for Sunday’s DraftKings MLS Daily Fantasy Leagues.

GK: Bill Hamid, DC United

Salary: $5,000

A six-game winless skid will keep DC United from finishing atop the Eastern Conference but they are coming off an impressive 2-1 win over New York City FC. They still have the potential to finish second as they are currently just one point back of Toronto FC. Factor in a favorable matchup against a Chicago side that is buried at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and it looks like Hamid could very well be the top goalie option on the board. Chicago is dead last in the East and has scored just 42 goals in 32 games. Those 42 goals are the second-fewest of any team in the East.

D: Anthony Wallace, New York Red Bulls

Salary: $4,500

The Red Bulls have won five of their last eight games to climb to the top of the Eastern Conference and they should be able to stay hot when they host Philadelphia this weekend. Wallace has been consistent for New York all season and he is available at a reasonable enough price for Sunday’s contests. Philadelphia isn’t much of an offensive threat as their 40 goals are the least in the east.

D: Sean Franklin, DC United

Salary: $4,000

Sticking with the theme of DC United’s favorable matchup, we will go back to this game to pick out our second defender option at a very reasonable price. Franklin has been consistent enough this year that we have no problem buying in on him at this price and using the money we saved here at a more important position.

M: Brad Davis, Houston

Salary: $8,200

Houston is on the outside looking in on the Western Conference playoff picture but they have won two of their last three games. Davis has been excellent overall this season, so we’ll count on him despite the price tag.

M: Chris Pontius, DC United

Salary: $5,800

We have no problem spending a little more money on Davis but in order to make sure we are covered for our remaining positions, we have to take a chance on Pontius in this spot. DC United should be able to score against the Fire as they’ve allowed 52 goals this season. Pontius is worth taking a chance on at under $6K.

F: Fabian Espindola, DC United

Salary: $9,800

DC United is playing with a sense of urgency and the fact that Espindola has been their primary weapon up front makes him that much more enticing of a player to have this weekend. It might be a little more expensive to have him in our lineup but we can live with our top striker being available at under $10K.

F: Will Bruin, Houston

Salary: $7,300

Bruin might offer the best value among MLS forwards for this weekend. He’s a consistent contributor available at a very reasonable price. We have already committed to the Dynamo with Davis, so we have no problem doubling down on a value bargain play.

FLEX: Alvas Powell, Portland

Salary: $5,300

With just under $5.5K left to spend on our FLEX position, this pick has everything to do with Powell being the best individual option available and nothing to do with the matchup. Powell has ranked among the best fantasy defenders all season and we will take a chance on him to produce once again this weekend. It’s an important game for the Timbers as they’re currently sixth in the Western Conference with 47 points but there’s a logjam near the top as they’re only four points out of second place.
