The 2026 NFL season is approaching, with minicamps taking place around the league and training camps less than two months away. GetMoreSports is tracking every trade that occurs between the NFL draft and the start of the regular season, as teams finalize rosters for the fall. Much of the league has been focused on the possibility of the New England Patriots acquiring Eagles receiver A.J. Brown.
On June 1, the Cleveland Browns finalized a trade that will send edge rusher Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero and ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The compensation heading to Cleveland includes pass rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick and additional draft assets that remain under negotiation, the reports said.
Garrett is a two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and the move represents a significant shift in Los Angeles’ defensive outlook. Verse has earned two Pro Bowl nods as a pass rusher, per the reports, and will head to Cleveland as part of the transaction.
Rapoport, Pelissero and Schefter described the deal as expected to be one of the NFL’s latest blockbuster trades and among the largest defensive trades in league history. The agreement continues a pattern for the Rams of making high-profile moves in pursuit of contention.
The Rams previously made a similarly seismic offseason move in 2021 when they acquired quarterback Matthew Stafford, a transaction that preceded a Super Bowl victory in Los Angeles. More updates on league transactions and roster changes will follow as the offseason progresses.
