Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon figure to be top favorites for this week’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race

NASCAR odds:  Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon figure to be top favorites for this week’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Pocono as they have the top two average finishes on the triangle track and in the case of Johnson he has become the most dominant driver of this era.  The Pocono 400 will take place at the Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, PA with coverage on TNT starting at 1 PM ET.  This is the 14th out of 36 NASCAR Sprint Cup races on the schedule.

Pocono Raceway

The Pocono Raceway is one of the most unique tracks on the Sprint Cup circuit for action with the NASCAR Odds.  Pocono Raceway is a superspeedway that is 2.5 miles in length with a tri-oval configuration.  The turn banks are 14 degrees for turn 1, 8 degrees for turn 2, and 6 degrees for turn 3.  There are two Sprint Cup races at Pocono each year and Johnson won the 2013 June race.

Top Pocono Drivers

Jimmie Johnson has 24 career starts at Pocono with 3 wins, 10 top 5 finishes, and 16 top 10 finishes and an average best of 8.8 with the NASCAR Odds.  Jeff Gordon has 42 career starts at Pocono with 6 wins, 19 top 5 finishes and 29 top 10 finishes with an average finish of 10.0.  Other top drivers include Tony Steward with 2 wins and an average finish of 11.0, Ryan Newman with 1 win and an average finish of 11.7, Denny Hamlin with 4 wins and an average finish of 12.8, and Carl Edwards with 2 wins and an average finish of 13.3.

The Pick

Johnson is a literal machine and with his record at Pocono he gets the call for this one!
