NBA News: Michael Jordan Emotional Over Medical Clinic Unveiling

NBA

It’s hard to believe it’s been so long since we saw the greatest basketball player – and possibly athlete – of all time do something on the court. Still, Michael Jordan is in the news and making an impact. Now, its due to the opening of a medical clinic in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Moreover, Jordan is the current owner of the Charlotte Hornets. He was on hand Thursday for the grand opening of the $7 million Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinic. Equally important, this is the first of two planned clinics that are going to open in the area due to Jordan.

Jordan said the following of the opening of the clinic:

“This is a very emotional thing for me to be able to give back to a community that has supported me over the years.”

When you’re Jordan – and you have done all there is to be done – you probably seek out opportunities like this one. Think about it for a minute, he’s won as much as any athlete this side of Tom Brady. After tasting that kind of success and having enough money to be happy the rest of his life, what else is there?

Of course, the answer would be giving back to the world. Moreover, Jordan kind of said that in a separate quote.

“This is just the start of a battle of being able to touch as many people as we can.”

Growing up, there were countless nights and afternoons I spent watching MJ go at it with the best the NBA had to offer. Whether it was Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, or Isaiah Thomas; it was always a spectacle if Jordan and the legendary Bulls were opposite him.

It’s great to see him in the news for such a worthwhile reason.
