LeBron Become Cavs Franchise Leader In Assists

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James became the all-time franchise leader in assists on Tuesday night during the team’s 127-94 win over the Dallas Mavericks.

James finished with 27 points and eight assists, the latter being enough to pass former franchise leader Mark Price. He set the mark with 10:14 remaining in the second quarter when he found James Jones for a 3-pointer, which be came his 4,207th assist while wearing a Cavs uniform.

Earlier this season, James also passed Price for the all-time franchise lead in 3-pointers made.

He was later asked about what led him to become a pass-oriented player in spite of his scoring ability.

“It just comes from my little league coaches who always preached ‘no I in team’ and no matter how good one individual is, in order to win championships you have to do as a team and everyone has to be involved,” James said. “It started from my little league coach in Frank Walker, to my AAU coach, and Coach Dru Joyce and all the way in between there. They just taught the game the right way.”

James is averaging 26.0 points and 7.3 assists per game this season.

Tim Duncan Injures Elbow

Tim Duncan hyperextended his left elbow towards the end of the San Antonio Spurs’ 117-107 win over the visiting Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night. Duncan left the game with about a minute remaining, clutching his elbow after teammate Tiago Splitter fell into him while under the basket.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was his usual self when asked about Duncan’s status following the game.

“I think he’ll be OK, but what do I know?” Popovich told a group of reporters.

Duncan, who is coming off of his first career game without a field goal, finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds in the Spurs victory; their sixth in a row.

Suns Sign Seth Curry To 10-Day Contract

In lieu of the recent injury to guard Brandon Knight, the Phoenix Suns have signed Seth Curry, brother of MVP candidate Stephen Curry, to a 10-day contract.

Knight sprained his ankle during Monday’s game against the Golden State Warriors, and could miss several games. The Suns opted to fill the need at guard by signing Curry.

Curry has excelled in the D-League this season. He’s averaging 23.5 points on 48.0 percent shooting from the field and 48.2 percent from beyond the arc during his time with the Erie BayHawks.

His last NBA appearance was in March of 2014 with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
