NCAAF Matchups: Mounties host Sooners Saturday Night on FOX!

NCAAF Matchups:  Dan Holgersen began the 2014 season on one of the hottest seats in college football as the West Virginia Mountaineers seemed to have regressed under his leadership as head coach but have shown signs so far in the early going that the worst may be over and big wins may be on the horizon.  The Oklahoma Sooners have lived up to expectations so far as a top contender for the first ever four team playoff. The West Virginia Mountaineers will host the Oklahoma Sooners at Mountaineer Field on Saturday night with coverage on FOX starting at 7:30 PM ET.  BetDSI opened with Oklahoma as a seven point favorite.

Sooners lower the Boomer

Oklahoma is 3-0 straight up, 2-1 against the spread, and 2-1 over the total.  OU dominated Tennessee last week in a 34-10 home payout.  The Sooner defense ranks ninth in the nation for points allowed. QB Trevor Knight has an impressive 140.0 pass rating with a 4/2 TD/INT ratio while Keith Ford is averaging 5.7 yards per carry and Sterling Shepard as 17 receptions for 19.7 yards per catch with two TD’s.

Climbing Mounties

West Virginia is 2-1 SU, 3-0 ATS, and 2-1 over the total after last week’s thrilling 40-37 win at Maryland.  Keep in mind WVU gave Alabama all they wanted in a 23-33 loss and cover on opening day.  QB Clint Trickett triggers the nation’s fifth ranked passing attack with a 167.8 pass rating and 7/1 TD/INT ratio.  WVU’s defense has shown improvement to rank in the nation’s upper half overall.

Matchup and Pick
Oklahoma has been a solid board value on the road with eight payouts in their last 12 away games as just three out of their last 12 away games have gone under the total.  West Virginia, conversely, has struggled to maintain board value at home with just six payouts in their last 17 games at Mountaineer Field as 12 out of their last 20 home games have gone over the total.  West Virginia has covered the spread in their last three matchups with Oklahoma as two out of the last three meetings between the Sooners and Mounties have gone over the total.  We’ll ride the resurgent momentum of West Virginia as a live and dangerous home dog in this one!
