New Jersey Devils vs. Ottawa Senators Odds

With a moneyline of -140, New Jersey heads into the matchup as the obvious favorite. The line for Ottawa sits at +120 and the Over/Under (O/U) has been set at 6 goals (-115 for the over, -105 for the under).

New Jersey is 6-6 straight up (SU) and has lost 2.0 units for moneyline bettors thus far. Through 12 regular season matches, six of its games have gone over the total, while five have gone under and none have pushed. As a road team in 2018-19, the Devils are 1-4 SU.

The Devils have impressively scored on 27.5 percent of their power play opportunities so far. That’s a nice step forward from last year, when they were ranked 14th in the league by scoring on 21.0 percent of their extra-man opportunities. Their penalty kill has held steady since last year, as they’ve gone from successfully defending 81.2 percent of all opponent power plays (ranked 10th overall last season) to 81.3 percent this year..

With a .919 save percentage and 27.9 saves per game, Keith Kinkaid (6-5-1) has been the top option in goal for New Jersey this season. Kinkaid did just play last night, however, so the team could opt to rest him and instead turn to Cory Schneider (0-2 record, .889 save percentage, 3.24 goals against average).

Ottawa is 5-9 straight up (SU) and has lost 1.6 units for moneyline bettors thus far. Through 14 regular season contests, 10 of its games have gone over the total, while two have gone under and just two have pushed. It’s 4-4 SU at home so far this year.

The Senators have converted on 27.3 percent of their power play opportunities this year, a figure that places it in the top-5 among NHL teams. On the other hand, its penalty kill is ranked 31st overall, and it’s successfully killed off 68.8 percent of all penalties.

Craig Anderson (33.2 saves per game) has been the top selection in goal for the Senators. Anderson has five wins, eight losses, and three overtime losses to his credit and has registered a subpar .909 save percentage and 3.58 goals against average this year.
