New York Rangers at Anaheim Ducks Odds

Anaheim (-155) is currently favored over New York (+135), and the oddsmakers have set the Over/Under (O/U) at 6 goals (-115 for the over, -105 for the under). After they initially opened at -120 over and +100 under, those O/U odds have shifted.

Anaheim is 5-8 straight up (SU) and has recorded -3.1 units for moneyline bettors this year. That early-season winning percentage is a regression from the 44-38 record that the team posted during last year’s regular season campaign. Through 13 regular season contests, seven of the team’s games have gone under the total, while five have gone over and just one has pushed. The team is 2-4 SU at home this year.

The Ducks have converted on 18.2 percent of their power play opportunities this season, a mark that’s right around league average. On the other hand, their penalty kill is rated 14th overall, and they’ve successfully killed off 79.5 percent of all penalties.

The Ducks, as a collective unit, have been penalized 4.1 times per game this season. Last year, that number was at 4.3, the third-highest mark in the league. After serving an average of 10.2 penalty minutes per game a season ago the team has been forced to kill penalties for 8.8 minutes per outing this year.

Averaging 36.0 saves per game with a .938 save percentage, John Gibson (four wins, six losses, and two OT losses) has been the top goalkeeper for the Ducks this season. If Anaheim chooses to give him the night off, however, the team may turn to Ryan Miller (1-3-3 record, .932 save percentage, 2.44 goals against average).

The Ducks will continue relying on offensive production via Hampus Lindholm and Ryan Getzlaf. Lindholm (eight points) has tallied two goals and six assists and has recorded two or more points on two different occasions this year. Getzlaf has two goals and six assists to his name and has recorded a point in four games.

New York is 4-8 straight up (SU) and has lost 1.9 units for moneyline bettors this year. Through 12 regular season outings, seven of its games have gone under the total, while five have gone over and none have pushed. The Rangers are 1-5 SU as a road team this season.

The Rangers have converted on 17.9 percent of their power play chances this season, a figure that’s right around league average. On the other hand, its penalty kill unit is ranked 24th overall and it’s successfully killed off 74.4 percent of all opponent power plays.

New York’s skaters have been penalized 4.4 times per game this season, a number that has risen some from the 3.5 penalties per game given up last year. After serving an average of 8.0 penalty minutes per game a year ago, the team has had to kill penalties for 10.8 minutes per matchup this season.

Henrik Lundqvist (.917 save percentage and 2.77 goals against average) has been the main option in goal for New York. Lundqvist is averaging 30.9 saves per game and owns a 3-7-1 record.

For the visiting Rangers, the offense will be facilitated through Mats Zuccarello (three goals, seven assists) and Mika Zibanejad (five goals, five assists).
