NFL Betting: Odds To Win MVP Released

Wentz

The opening of NFL training camps is right around the corner with the regular season less than month away. In anticipation of the new season, BetDSI Sportsbook has released an updated list of odds to win NFL MVP. With so many intriguing storylines throughout the league, the MVP race promised to be one of the most entertaining in recent years as long as the star players manage to break down where the best value is when it comes to betting on NFL MVP futures. Here is a look at the updated odds to win the NFL MVP this season.

A year ago, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers finished the season on injured reserve after he suffered a broken collarbone. Now he is fully healthy again and looking for redemption after the Packers went 7-9 and missed the playoffs last season. Rodgers was playing at an elite level before he went down and he will look to pick up from where he left off. Green Bay lost Jordy Nelson but added tight ends Jimmy Graham and Lance Kendricks to their offense. Those additions combined with a healthy offensive line could help push Rodgers over the top as an MVP favorite this season. Rodgers is currently the betting favorite to win the award at +550 odds.

In order for Rodgers to win, he will need to beat out the reigning NFL MVP in New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Brady is entering his age-40 season but he showed no signs of slowing down last year. Things could be different this year, though, with Brandin Cooks and Danny Amendola gone, and Julian Edelman suspended for the first four weeks. At +800 odds, Brady is second in line for the MVP.

Beyond Rodgers and Brady are a number of other interesting options including Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. However, there is a substantial drop off between from Rodgers and Brady to those three players and for good reason. Wentz is coming off a brutal knee injury, Brees is coming off a down year by his standards at 39-years-old and Wilson is playing for a Seahawks team that appears to be in transition on both sides of the football. Wentz is listed at +850 odds while Brees is at +1500 and Wilson is at +2000.

Rounding out the list of NFL MVP odds worth considering is a handful of sleeper value picks. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo looked outstanding after he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers last season. Could he lead them to the playoffs in 2018? Garoppolo is currently listed at +1500 odds to win NFL MVP. Meanwhile, Cam Newton is another intriguing quarterback candidate as he looks to lead the Carolina Panthers back to the postseason. Newton is also listed at +2000 odds to win NFL MVP as he heads in to an absolutely crucial season. Finally, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is available at +2200 as another intriguing pick to consider. Their offense looked like they missed Kyle Shanahan a lot last season, though.
