The NFL Celebrates Father’s Day

There are a lot of proud fathers around the NFL, and today is their day. It’s Father’s Day, so let’s take a look at how the league is celebrating this Sunday.

College football’s all-time leader in receptions took to Twitter to thank his father earlier today. Zay Jones is entering his third season in the NFL, and the Buffalo Bills wide receiver might be primed to have a breakout campaign in 2019. His father, Robert Jones, was a three-time Super Bowl winner as an outside linebacker with the Dallas Cowboys in the 1990s, and Zay is one of around a dozen second-generation NFL players in the game today.

There are three Watt boys in the NFL, and that has made John Watt one proud papa. JJ Watt is one of the top defensive players in the NFL and the three-time Defensive Player of the Year was the first of the three brothers to make it to the NFL. Derek Watt was the second to break in as a fullback for the Los Angeles Chargers, and TJ Watt made his debut as a linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2017. They are the only trio of brothers currently in the NFL.

The Chargers have been giving shoutouts to a lot of their players today, and this video showcasing Keenan Allen, Melvin Ingram, and Damion Square’s children is the perfect combination of cute and heartwarming.

DeMarcus Ware closes us out with an important message. Being a father is about more than biology, and there are a lot of people to keep in mind today. There are stepfathers who stepped in to raise children, and kids that grew up without a father to help raise them. This day can be a little tough for those people, so keep them in mind on this Father’s Day.
