NFL Fantasy: Biggest Fantasy Busts From Week 2

NFL Fantasy

Week 2 of the NFL season saw some great performances, but it also featured its share of duds. These players did not give you the week you wanted, or needed, and have been certified as busts. Here are the biggest busts for week two of the NFL season.

Quarterback Jameis Winston – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

204 Passing Yards, 3 Rushing Yards, 1 Passing TD

Winston was not the worst quarterback last week, but due to his matchup and expectations coming into the season you could say this week was a bit of a disappointment. The Bears were easily outmatched by the Bucs, even with Winston only throwing for 204 yards on 60% completion rate and just picking up three yards on the ground. The first week off may have slowed the Bucs offense to start the season, so view this game as a single week bust, not a premonition of the future.

Running Back DeMarco Murray – Tennessee Titans

25 Rushing Yards, 1 Receptions, 3 Receiving Yards, 0 TDs

Murray fringed on a bust in week one of the NFL season, but in week two the running back flopped. Murray dealt with tightness in his leg last week, which sidelined him for the second half of the game. Before he left the game, Murray had a chance to be productive. He totalled ten touches on Sunday, yet could only muster 2.8 yards per touch and failed to reach the end zone. With his health a question mark, Murray may begin to see his role in the Titans offense diminish.

Wide Receiver Larry Fitzgerald – Arizona Cardinals

3 Reception, 21 Receiving Yards, 0 TDs

Against one of the worst team in the NFL, the Cardinals lead target struggled to get open, finishing the day with just three receptions for 21 yards. Fitzgerald has seen his yards per catch average decline over the last few seasons, but 7.0 yards per catch is entering running back territory. Fitzgerald remains a reliable receiver, but with the decline of Carson Palmer, the loss of David Johnson and the emergence of J.J. Nelson, Fitz may begin to see more games like this throughout the season.

Tight End Greg Olsen – Carolina Panthers

1 Reception, 10 Receiving Yards, 0 TDs

Over the last nine seasons, Greg Olsen has played in 16 games per season. That streak comes to an end, as Olsen suffered a broken foot in week two that will sideline him for six-to-eight weeks. Olsen left Sunday’s game with just a single catch for ten yards, giving his three catches for 28 yards on the season. Hopefully, Olsen can return to form after his injury. Otherwise, he will not just be a week two bust, he will finish 2017 as one of the biggest busts at the tight end position.

Defense – Los Angeles Rams

27 Points Allowed, 385 Yards Allowed, 2 Sacks, 0 Turnovers,

The Rams won a lot of people their week one fantasy matchups, but those expecting a repeat performance in week two were severely disappointed. The unit got back their best player, with Aaron Donald ending his holdover and rejoining the team, but were outmatched by Washington. The Rams have an easy matchup next week, but there are better streaming options to grab for week three.

Kicker Younghoe Koo – Los Angeles Chargers

1 FG Made 40-49, 2 PAT, 2 Missed FG 40-49

Although he seems to be quite popular as a person, his time kicking in the NFL may not last much longer. The Chargers kicker missed two more fields in Sunday’s loss. That’s a problem when you consider that the Chargers lost by two points. That now makes it back-to-back weeks when the Chargers could have ended up with a win but instead assured themselves a loss due to field goal kicking. San Diego has gone from a team with promise to a team with an uphill battle to make the playoffs. That’s a big concern when you think about how easy Koo can be replaced. He’s demoralizing the team and this can’t last much longer – one way or another. The Chargers don’t want to have a Robert Aguayo on their hands.

Although the misses were in the 40-49 range and likely did not cost you any points, the fact he finished the day with just five points, when he should have had eight to 11 is a letdown.
