NFL Fantasy: DFS Value For Week 13

Ryan Fitzpatrick

For the first time since September, the NFL has a full schedule of games on Sunday. Lots of games mean tons of options in daily fantasy. There are a lot of favorable matchups for star players this weekend. However, getting many of these stars (Mike Evans, Leonard Fournette and Keenan Allen to name a few) in your DFS lineup is near-impossible without finding value in other places. The following players all offer great potential at an exceptional value in Week 13. Mix and match some of these players with some stars to maximize your point potential, while minimizing cost. Here’s a look at where we found good value:

QB – Ryan Fitzpatrick $5300

In terms of low-cost quarterbacks, the best option looks to be Ryan Fitzpatrick. The veteran has played well since moving into the starting lineup for the Buccaneers. He has topped 275 yards in three of the four games he attempted over 30 passes. He is also limiting turnovers, which something Fitzpatrick has struggled with his entire career.

This weekend, the Buccaneers and Fitzpatrick play the Green Bay Packers. The Packers defense is in a state of decline. In the first six games of the season, the Packers did not allow a single 300-yard passer and only eight passing touchdowns. Over the last five, the Packers defense has given up three 300-yard passing games and nine touchdowns. Putting Ryan Fitzpatrick in your lineup will leave extra cap space for star players (including his teammate Mike Evans).

RB – Rex Burkhead $5000

Taking over a more substantial part of running back duties has turned Rex Burkhead into one of the better values at running back in DFS. Originally signed to be more of a receiving option out of the backfield, Burkhead is now a dual-threat back, topping double-digit carries in two of the last three games. His opponent this weekend, the Buffalo Bills, allow the second more points to running backs this season.

On average, running backs against Buffalo touch the ball 29.09 times. If Burkhead can get around 40-50% of total RB touches, he should easily top ten total touches. The Bills biggest weakness is touchdowns. The Bills have allowed the most rushing touchdowns in the NFL (13), with ten coming in the last five games. The Patriots have the potential to blow out the Bills, which could equally help Burkhead. Either in a close game or a blow out, Burkhead has good potential with a strong probability of scoring a touchdown.

WR – Jermaine Kearse $4300

Coming off a big game in Week 12, Jermaine Kearse is primed for another in Week 13 against the Kansas City Chiefs. No team in the NFL has surrendered more touchdowns (16) to wide receivers than the Kansas City Chiefs. It will be difficult for the Chiefs to double team Kearse, as the Jets have an equally talented wide receiver (Robby Anderson) on the opposite side of the field. At just $4300, there are not many, if any, cheaper receiving options in DFS with as good of a 2017 season and Week 13 matchup as Jermaine Kearse.

TE – Julius Thomas $3500

After a slow start to the year, Julius Thomas has turned things around in the middle of the season. Thomas has at least four receptions or a receiving touchdown in his last four games (having done neither in the first seven games of 2017). Thomas faces the Broncos in Week 13. The Broncos have played better against tight ends the last two weeks, but still, rank as the second worst team in the NFL for points to tight ends. Their defense has really nosedived. Their offense is hanging them out to dry and the defense is crumbling as a result.

The Broncos will be without Aqib Talib on Sunday, which may cause some shuffling in the secondary, opening things up more for Thomas down the field. Additionally, Thomas is not a blocking tight end, meaning he will not be tasked with helping double Von Miller. Instead, he could be used as a check down option if the Broncos consistently generate pressure. Considering all of this, the price is right for Thomas in Week 13.
