NFL Fantasy: DFS Value Picks Week 9

Adrian Peterson

With so many of the best players on their bye this week (Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell to name a few), this is an ideal week to look deeper into value picks and find some hidden gems for your daily fantasy team. Considering matchup quality, production this season and weather, these players all offer some form of value or upside at their respective positions. Here are the best values for Week 9 of the NFL season.

QB – Jacoby Brissett $4800

In a week with six quarterbacks on bye and some shuffling of players at the trade deadline, there are not too many options to choose from, if you purely want value at the position. One player with intriguing upside is Jacoby Brissett. Brissett has been a productive fantasy player since joining the Indianapolis Colts. Brissett has double-digit fantasy points in his last six games this season and twice topped 18 points in the same stretch. Brissett can use his legs to pick up extra fantasy points. He has rushed for three TDs this season. The Texans are not great at stopping QBs from running with the ball, allowing 30 yards or more to QBs in three of their last four NFL games.

RB – Adrian Peterson $5600

With a bye week to learn the offense better, Adrian Peterson is well-positioned to have a big game against one of the worst defenses in the NFL. No team has given up more points to running backs in DFS on average than the 49ers. Peterson showed off he still has gas left in the tanks in his first game as a Cardinal and with the week off Peterson should be ready for another large workload. With Palmer out at quarterback, the running game will need to step up if the Cardinals want to make the postseason. Expect Peterson to relish the opportunity to put a team on his back and look for him to have a great game against the 49ers.

WR –Brandon Coleman $3400

Coleman gets an excellent matchup in Week 9, as the New Orleans Saints host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (who have one of the worst secondaries in the league). The Bucs are allowing wide receivers to catch 195.3 yards per game against their secondary and have allowed over 230 yards to the position three times in seven games this season. Drew Brees has spread the ball around well against the Bucs in his career, averaging 25 competitions for 283 yards and two passing touchdowns. Coleman should see a large enough volume of targets go his direction to have a healthy fantasy day. If he can grab a touchdown, which is a possibility, he could be the best value at any position this weekend.

TE – Martellus Bennett $3000

Martellus Bennett was recently in the news for stating this season will likely be his last. The ten-year pro has under-produced in Green Bay this season but will end his career with a Super Bowl Ring and one Pro Bowl appearance. Bennett is a risky start this week. He could be retiring as he has lost a desire to play or he could still love the game but knows it is just time to walk away. If he still loves the game, he could have a big game against Detroit. In a week without many good low-cost options, taking a boom-bust approach on Martellus Bennett is one strategy to consider. Brent Hundley (Green Bay’s quarterback) will need to have a better day passing than he did in his debut if the Packers are to have any chance at betting the Lions. One way to improve a passing performance is to target the tight end and get small, but consistent chunks of yardage. Bennett could provide value in Week 9 at his price.

DEF – Los Angeles Rams $4800

The Rams defense has really picked up the pace over the last three weeks. They cleaned out the Arizona Cardinals two weeks ago, shutting them out 33-0. Prior to that, they had allowed 16.5 points per game over the two games before that. The Giants have had a feeble offense all season long. The Rams are on a roll, are fresh off a bye and look like good value at $4800.
