NFL Futures:  The Kansas City Chiefs went from their worst and most tumultuous season in their history in 2012 to a redeemed playoff franchise last year as new head coach Andy Reid and general manager John Dorsey proved to be an effective tandem that made the Chiefs the toast of the town after the city of Kansas City was in full revolt following that 2-14 debacle of 2012.  Now the question is if the Chiefs can keep it going or if they will take a step back?  The Chiefs opened as a 20/1 choice to win the AFC and a 50/1 choice to win the Super Bowl with an over under win total of 8 over -105 and under -125.

A New Reid on Chiefs!

QB Alex Smith proved to be a significant upgrade and good game manager and RB Jamaal Charles was one of the top duel threat backs in the NFL.  The defense was among the best and most aggressive in the NFL before being worn down by injuries in the final weeks.   The Chiefs special teams were among the best.

Handicapper’s Notes

The Chiefs have paid out in six out of their last 11 games against the spread as favorites with 5 out of their last 7 games as chalks going over the total.  The Chiefs have failed to get the money in 6 out of their last 8 games as a dog with just 3 out of their last 12 games as a pup going over the total.  They have covered the spread in just 7 out of their last 20 games at Arrowhead Stadium with just 6 out of their last 20 home games going over the total.  Kansas City has paid out in 7 out of their last 9 away games with 5 out of their last 7 road games going over the total.

Our Prognosis

This team clears the 8 win total and contends for a playoff spot!
