They cut it right down to the wire, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and first round pick Devin White where able to reach an agreement that got the former LSU linebacker in camp.

While there’s little room to move in rookie contracts thanks to the collective bargaining agreement, guaranteed money can usually be an issue. While nothing was released on why it took White and the Bucs this long to get his name on the dotted line, that was likely the problem.

White recorded 123 tackles, 12 for a loss, three sacks, six passes defended, two fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles with the Tigers last season. Tampa Bay selected him at No. 5 overall in April’s NFL Draft.

Thanks to owners and general managers trying to pinch pennies instead of getting rookies into camp, the problem the rookie wage scale was supposed to solve, there are still four first round picks presently unsigned as of this writing. New York Jets defensive end Quinnen Williams, San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa, Carolina Panthers defensive end Brian Burns and New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

Broncos sign wide receiver Jamarius Way after surprise retirement of Romell Guerrier

Romell Guerrier never suited up for the Denver Broncos and, after informing the team of his retirement, he never will. Guerrier, a 5-10, 184-pound wide receiver out of Florida Tech was signed by the Broncos as an undrafted free agent. Ge caught 59 passes for 1,062 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Panthers last season.

“This is something Romell has thought about since he ended OTAs,’’ his agent Sean Russi told Denver’s 9 News. “It’s something he’s discussed with his family. He’s seeking something in his degree background and he just wants to thank the Broncos for the opportunity.’’

With Guerrier out of the picture, Denver added Jamarius Way. Way, too was an undrafted free agent out of South Alabama. The 6-4, 220 pound receiver caught 61 passes for 885 yards and eight touchdowns for the Jaguars in 2018.
