NFL News: Ezekiel Elliott Insulted by “Zeke Who?” and More

Jerry Jones might have been joking when he said “Zeke who?” when discussing running back Tony Pollard’s preseason performance, but his star running back, Ezekiel Elliott didn’t think it was amusing.

That is, at least, according to his agent Rocky Arcenaux. Arcenaux told Chris Mortensen of ESPN, “I didn’t think it was funny and neither did Zeke. We actually thought it was disrespectful.”

Jones did add the caveat, after his “Zeke who?” jab that “We’re having some fun, not at your expense.”

Reportedly, there’s been no movement on any negotiations between the two sides and with the season just a little over two weeks away, it might be time to stop asking “Zeke who?” and start asking “Zeke when?”

Cam Newton to make preseason debut

Cam Newton has been up on blocks all preseason, but Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera and offensive coordinator Norv Turner decided to take him out for a spin Thursday.

Newton will reportedly play in the team’s preseason game against the New England Patriots. While Rivera didn’t give an estimate of how much time Newton will be on the field, I’d be shocked if it was more than a series.

Thursday will mark the first preseason action for linebacker Luke Kuechly, tight end Greg Olsen and running back Christian McCaffrey as well.

Emmanuel Sanders to see first action Monday night

Newton isn’t the only star getting his first NFL taste of the year in preseason Week 3. Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders will hit the field Monday night against the San Francisco 49ers. It will be his first action since tearing his Achilles back in December.

Like Newton, the Broncos will be smart to limit Sanders to a single series. They desperately need him to be healthy when the regular season starts with a painfully young receiving corps around him led by second-year wideout Courtland Sutton.
