NFL Picks: League’s oldest rivalry renews as Packers visit Bears

NFL Picks:  The Green Bay Packers are suffering from an alarming drop-off in production as their defense remains a liability and, of bigger concern and worry, have an offense that has played even worse than their much maligned defensive unit.  The Chicago Bears have won back to back road games after an opening day home loss but have troubling metrics that call into question their long term viability.

The Chicago Bears (+1.5) will host the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field on Sunday with coverage on FOX starting at 1 PM ET. Please check BetDSI for the latest odds.

Pack Falls Back

Green Bay is 1-2 straight up, 0-2-1 against the spread, and 2-1 over the total.  The Packers are coming off a deflating 19-7 loss at Detroit as QB Aaron Rodgers passed for only 162 yards and the Packers could muster just 76 yards on 22 rushes.  Green Bay allowed Detroit to keep the ball for nearly two thirds of the game.  The Packers rank 28th in the NFL for total offense, 27th for scoring offense, and 28th for scoring defense.

Bear Market

The Bears are coming off a 27-19 win at the New York Jets to now stand at 2-1 SU, 2-1 ATS, and 2-1 over the total.  Chicago ranks 27th in the NFL for total offense and 23rd for total defense.

Matchup and Pick

Green Bay has struggled to maintain good betting value on the road as they have covered the spread in just four out of their last 11 away games with nine out of their last 11 away games going over the total.  Chicago has been an even worse board value at home however with just two payouts in their last 15 games at Soldier Field as six out of their last nine home games have gone over the total.

Green Bay has dominated their head to head series with the Bears as the Packers have come away with the cash in 10 out of their last 13 games with Chicago as just two out of the last 13 meetings between the Packers and Bears have gone over the total.  The Bears are often most dangerous as a betting commodity when they have had some success.  We’ll call for Green Bay (-1.5) and under the total of 50 in this NFC North rivalry showdown.
