NFL Picks: New England battles the Chiefs on Monday night

NFL Picks: The injury ravaged Kansas City Chiefs were written off for dead after losing their first two games of the season but last week’s win at Miami may restore some faith among fans and bettors. The New England Patriots scored a sluggish win last week but have to be concerned about an offense that has looked anemic thus far.

The Kansas City Chiefs will host the New England Patriots at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night with coverage on ESPN starting at 8:30 PM ET. New England opened is listed as a 3-point favorite with a total of 46.   Please check BetDSI for the latest NFL odds.

Brady Bunch Unproductive

New England is 2-1 straight up, 1-2 against the spread, and 1-2 under the total after last week’s 16-9 home win over Oakland as they failed to cover as 14 point home chalks. New England ranks 27th overall in the NFL for total offense as their passing attack ranks 26th in the NFL. QB Tom Brady has a very average 82.9 QB rating and 3-0 TD-INT ratio as there is nothing close to a breakaway receiver to throw to in the Pats lineup as evidenced by Brady’s 5.5 yards per pass attempt.

Chiefs off the Mat

Kansas City is coming off a 34-15 payout at Miami as QB Alex Smith justified his big new contract with 19 of 25 passing good for 186 yards and three TD’s. RB Knile Davis was also outstanding with 132 yards rushing and one TD in place of the injured Jamaal Charles. The Chiefs are now 1-2 SU, 2-1 ATS, and 1-2 under the total. The Chiefs are hopeful of getting Charles and S Eric Berry back this week from their lengthy injury list.

Matchup and Pick

The Patriots have seen a sharp drop in their betting value on the road with just three payouts in their last 13 away games as eight out of their last 13 away games have gone under the total. The Chiefs and their home field advantage at Arrowhead Stadium have been something of a myth as they are 6-12 straight up and 5-13 against the spread in their last 18 home games with just four out of their last 15 home games going over the total. New England has covered four out of their last five games against the Chiefs at Arrowhead with the last three meetings between the Patriots and Chiefs at KC going under the total. We’ll call for New England (-3) and under the total of 46.
