The NFL on Wednesday unveiled matchups for a nine-game international slate, the most regular-season games the league has scheduled outside the United States, the report says.
Among the international contests is the league’s first game in Paris: the Pittsburgh Steelers at the New Orleans Saints at Stade de France in Week 7, a matchup that would include Aaron Rodgers at quarterback for the Steelers if he returns to play this season, per the report.
Three international games had been announced previously: the San Francisco 49ers at the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia (Week 1); the Baltimore Ravens at the Dallas Cowboys in Rio de Janeiro (Week 3); and the Cincinnati Bengals at the Atlanta Falcons in Madrid (Week 9). The additional matchups revealed Wednesday include the Indianapolis Colts at the Washington Commanders in London (Week 4); the Philadelphia Eagles at the Jacksonville Jaguars in London (Week 5); the Houston Texans at the Jaguars in London (Week 6); the Steelers at the Saints in Paris (Week 7); the New England Patriots at the Detroit Lions in Munich (Week 10); and the Minnesota Vikings at the 49ers in Mexico City (Week 11), the report says.
Several logistical details were included: the 49ers will be the road team for the Thursday night game on Sept. 10 against the Rams on Netflix, which will occur Friday morning in Melbourne at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. In Mexico City at Estadio Banorte, the 49ers will be the home team for a Sunday night game on Nov. 22 against the Vikings. The Jaguars will play consecutive home games abroad for the first time, facing the Eagles at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Oct. 11 and the Texans at Wembley Stadium on Oct. 18. Other site notes list the Commanders at Tottenham on Oct. 4 versus the Colts, the Saints as the home team in Paris on Oct. 25, the Lions as the home team in Munich on Nov. 15, the Cowboys as the home team in Rio de Janeiro on Sept. 27 and the Falcons as the home team in Madrid on Nov. 8.
Aaron Rodgers, 42, has not informed the Steelers whether he will play this season, although the team has expressed confidence he will return for a second season. Organized team activities begin next week under new coach Mike McCarthy, who coached Rodgers for 13 seasons in Green Bay. Commissioner Roger Goodell has said his goal is to reach 16 international games per season. The complete 2026 regular-season schedule will be announced Thursday at 8 p.m. ET with a two-hour prime-time special on ESPN and NFL Network, the report says.
