NFL Week 1: Teaser of the Week

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Week 1 of the regular season and what better way to kick things off than with a teaser. Week 1 can often be unpredictable as we don’t fully know who’s who just yet. That’s why the extra margin of points will help for safety reasons. We’re playing a four-game, seven-point teaser this week, both knocking down favorites and teasing up underdogs. Here’s our teaser of the week:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints

Current Odds: Saints -9.5

The Saints are nearly a double-digit favorite in this spot as this line has shot up thanks to Bucs starting quarterback Jameis Winston being suspended. The Bucs will have to turn to the solid-but-unspectacular Ryan Fitzpatrick for now.

The bottom line in this spot is the Saints are the much better team, they’re at home and Winston is out. Asking them to cover double-digits might be a lot but we’ll tease them down to -2.5 and bank on them winning by at least a field goal.

Buffalo Bills @ Baltimore Ravens

Current Odds: Ravens -7

The second team we’ll tease down is the Ravens. This is mostly a play based on what we’ve seen from the preseason. The Bills offense looked like a mess with their offensive line falling apart and their quarterback play looking unsettled. Speaking of unsettled, we don’t even know who their starting quarterback will be. Regardless of whether it’s rookie Josh Allen or Nathan Peterman, it’s hard to get excited about either.

Meanwhile, the Ravens looked very crisp in the preseason, winning all five games. More importantly, quarterback Joe Flacco looked sharp. We’ll tease the Ravens down to a PICK in this spot.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Indianapolis Colts

Current Odds: Colts -3

Speaking of teams who looked good in the preseason, the Bengals performed well while winning their first three preseason games. Their defense should be one of the better units in the NFL, while their offense should be much better than last year. Their offensive line is stronger and they should be able to have some balance by running the ball with up-and-comer Joe Mixon.

The Colts are favored here and while they do have Andrew Luck back, they still have flaws all over the place. Can they run the ball? Is their defense any good? We’ll tease the Bengals up to +10 and expect them to keep this close – if not win.

Los Angeles Rams @ Oakland Raiders

Current Odds: Rams -5

For our last play of the week, we’re riding with the Rams. This is not only a bet on the Rams, who won 11 games last year and then had an incredible offseason, but it’s also a bet against the Raiders. It’s hard to convince anyone that the trading of Defensive Player of the Year, Khalil Mack, makes this a better team right now. And this comes on the heels of a number of questionable offseason moves by the Raiders. This is the oldest team in the NFL, they lack talent – especially on defense – and that should show on opening night.

Teaser Pick: Saints -2.5 & Bengals +10 & Ravens PICK & Rams +2
