NHL Picks: Monday action features Avalanche at Bruins

NHL Picks:  Four games are on the NHL schedule for Monday including the Colorado Avalanche at the Boston Bruins.  This will already be the third home game of the season for the Bruins who opened up with a 2-1 win against the Flyers on opening night.  The Avalanche began their season with a home and home with the Minnesota Wild.  Here is a look at the four contests for Monday and NHL predictions.

Colorado Avalanche at Boston Bruins

This is the start of a tough four-game road trip for the Avalanche who plays at Toronto on Tuesday, in Ottawa on Thursday and at Montreal on Saturday.  The good news for Colorado is that they have won six of the last ten in this series including the last six in Boston.  The last three games in the series went under the total including a 2-0 win by Boston in Colorado last year.  It has been a strange series as the road team has done really well. The Bruins haven’t won at home against the Avalanche since 1998. Three of the last four meetings in Boston have gone under.  We’ll go with the trends in this one and take Colorado and the game under.

Anaheim Ducks at Buffalo Sabres

The Ducks are the better team and they did win in Buffalo 6-3 last season but they are still just 2-4 in the last six in Buffalo.  Three of the last five have gone under.  We’ll go against the trends in this one and take the game over the total.

Montreal Canadiens at Tampa Bay Lightning

The Canadiens won three of the four meetings in this series a year ago on the road in Tampa with three of the four games being low scoring.  We’ll look for this game to stay under the total.

Ottawa Senators at Florida Panthers

The Senators split two games in Florida last season, winning 4-2 and losing 3-2.  Even with that loss they have still won 7 of the last 10 in Florida. Four of the last five have gone under the total.  We’ll take the Ottawa Senators to win this one on the road on Monday.
