Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports

It will be a battle between MAAC opponents when the Marist Red Foxes (9-14, 4-7 MAAC) welcome the Niagara Purple Eagles (11-12, 4-6 MAAC) to the McCann Center. The game gets underway at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, February 8, 2019.

Niagara Purple Eagles vs. Marist Red Foxes ATS Prediction

The Purple Eagles are trying to rebound after their 84-73 loss to the Quinnipiac Bobcats in their last game. Getting to the charity stripe was one of Quinnipiac’s biggest strengths. They made 30 trips to the line, while Niagara went 15 times. Marcus Hammond had a good outing for Niagara, recording 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

In the Red Foxes’ last outing, they were victorious over the Canisius Golden Griffins, 78-71. The Red Foxes held the Golden Griffins to an effective field goal percentage of 0.475 (below the 0.533 mark opponents have averaged against Marist this season) and had a free throw rate of 0.286 (above their season average of 0.228). Aleksandar Dozic led Marist in scoring with 17 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the field.

After the Purple Eagles won both contests against the Red Foxes last season, this will be the first matchup of the year between these two teams. In the most recent contest, Niagara won 100-76. The Purple Eagles had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (31.3 vs. 19.6) and had a better free throw rate (0.167 vs. 0.110).

The elite offense of Marist will face off against the mid-tier defense of Niagara. The Red Foxes rank 86th in effective field goal percentage (0.534), while the Purple Eagles are 293rd in effective field goal percentage allowed (0.529). The Red Foxes figure to have the edge on that end of the court.
