Nigeria international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has confirmed his departure from South African Premier Division side Chippa United, revealing that he made the decision without having a follow-up club deal arranged. Nwabali, who featured prominently for Nigeria in recent competitions, stressed that he is taking a patient approach to determining his next career move.

Following his release from Chippa United, the 27-year-old goalkeeper acknowledged that he had no concrete offers on the table at the time he submitted his request. According to Nwabali, the decision was rooted more in personal goals and the desire for progression rather than a reaction to external pressures.

“At the time I asked for my release, I didn’t have any clubs I was already negotiating with,” Nwabali stated. “But I knew that I was ready for a new challenge. There’s no rush. I’m just waiting for the right opportunity.”

Nwabali joined Chippa United in 2022, and quickly established himself as a key figure in the team’s lineup. His consistent form at club level earned him recognition on the international stage, culminating in a strong showing for Nigeria during recent international fixtures. While his time at Chippa was marked by several standout performances, including multiple clean sheets, Nwabali now sees the need for a change.

Though speculation has linked him to various clubs across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, Nwabali has not publicly indicated specific targets or preferences. He maintains that his focus is on finding a club that aligns with his professional ambitions and personal development.

“I want to make sure the next move is right for me,” he added. “Whether it’s in Africa, Europe, or elsewhere, the most important thing is playing consistently and continuing to grow as a player.”

With the transfer window still open in several regions, Nwabali’s availability will likely attract attention from clubs seeking to reinforce their goalkeeping ranks. Despite lacking a confirmed destination, the Nigerian shot-stopper remains composed and optimistic about what lies ahead.

As of now, Nwabali continues individual training while evaluating opportunities with his representatives. Until an agreement is reached, he will remain a free agent.
