Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams Favored in Australian Open Odds

Australian Open Odds: Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams are solid favorites to win the Australian Open, which begins on Jan. 19. Djokovic is the clear choice on the men’s side with odds of 6-5 while Serena Williams is a big favorite on the women’s side with odds of 9-5. Let’s take a look at the latest Australian Open odds.

The men’s side is very top heavy with Djokovic a big favorite and then three other contenders in Nadal, Federer and Murray. Darkhorse contenders would be Wawrinka, Nishikori and Dimitrov. Everyone else in the field is a longshot with odds of 40-1 or more.

The interesting thing with the longshots is that there are some highly ranked players who are listed at 100-1 or more. David Ferrer is ranked 10th in the world but he is given no real chance in the Australian Open as he is listed with odds of 125-1. Ernests Gulbis is ranked 13th and he is listed at 135-1.

The women’s Australian Open odds are similar to the men with Serena the clear favorite and then two other contenders in Sharapova and Halep. There are three darkhorse contenders in Azarenka, Kvitova and Bouchard and then two interesting longshots in Radwanska and Ivanovic. All of the other players are listed with odds of 40-1 or more. Two players ranked in the top 10 that are big longshots are Wozniacki who is ranked 8th but is listed at 82-1 while Cibulkova is ranked 10th and yet she is listed with odds of 125-1.
