OG Anunoby fully practiced with the New York Knicks on Friday for the first time since injuring his hamstring, moving the club closer to having its starting lineup intact for the Eastern Conference finals, the report says.
The starting forward missed the final two games of the Knicks’ second-round sweep of the Philadelphia 76ers after straining his right hamstring late in Game 2, the report says.
When the team returned to practice on Wednesday, Anunoby participated in parts of the session but sat out the full-speed portions, the report says. Coach Mike Brown said Anunoby did everything with the team on Friday, the report says.
The timing of Game 1 could affect the immediate outlook. The Knicks would host Game 1 of the East finals on Sunday if Cleveland beats Detroit in Game 6 on Friday night; if that series goes the distance, Anunoby would not have to be ready until Tuesday, the report says.
Anunoby has been a primary scoring option for New York in the postseason. He is averaging 21.4 points per game while shooting 61.9% from the field and 53.8% from 3-point range, the report says.
