Their crosstown rivals Atlético ended an 18-year wait for an away win in the league against Barcelona 12 months ago and they struck first after 18 minutes on this occasion when Baena beat a high defensive line to score. Baena latched on to Nahuel Molina’s through-ball to race through on goal before gently lifting over Joan García and while the offside flag went up, the decision was overturned on VAR. And Torres made sure there would be no way back for Atlético, slotting in from close range after being left unmarked from Alex Balde’s low cross.
