Pac-12 News: Cal’s Big Weekend In AZ

Following their loss on the road to Colorado where they were still missing their senior point guard, the California Golden Bears have gone on a seven game win streak and now find themselves in a position to move up the Pac-12 standings, and the seed lines of the NCAA tournament, with a quality road trip down in Arizona.

Things kick off tonight in Tucson, where the Arizona Wildcats await California with the mindset of getting back on track and finally move back up to where they were just a few weeks ago in the standings.

As things stand, California is one game up on Arizona sitting at 11-5. A win in Tucson would likely set themselves up to finish with a 13-5 record in conference play, as their final game of the regular season comes against an ailing Arizona State team that has fallen apart down the stretch. A loss certainly does not ruin their chances at finishing the season strong, but as this team has finally started to live up to their potential, you can’t help but hope that they truly reach it.

Cal has not dropped a game since senior Tyrone Wallace returned from a hand/wrist injury, beating the likes of Oregon, USC, and Washington in the process. But this is where a team can separate themselves, going on the road and finding ways to win while in hostile environments.

Beating Arizona would put the Bears in position to earn themselves a beneficial seed on Selection Sunday, keeping alive the hopes that Cal fans had for a magical postseason.
