PARIS SG

The Parisians showed us another brilliant performance last Sunday when they completely outperformed Monaco on the road, despite a narrow 2:1 win in the end. They have created 13 scoring opportunities, and just because of their poor finishing job we saw only two goals in Monaco’s net. Paris SG’s expensive NCM trio looked unstoppable at Stade Louis II throughout the match, but they’ve managed to miss some massive chances in front of Danijel Subasic’s goal. On the other side of the field, The Parisians played a strong, responsible defense, and it seemed like they always know how to hold up Monaco’s attacks. Their marking on Radamel Falcao was brilliant, while they didn’t allow enough space for Monaco’s wingers, so the home side looked harmless for the most of the time, and they created just three scoring chances for 90 minutes.

Paris SG could take a lead in the second minute of the game when Kylian Mbappe dribbled past the goalkeeper after Neymar’s wonderful through ball, but his shot finished into the side-netting. In the 19th minute, Edinson Cavani scored the opening goal from a Julian Draxler’s refined pass, and it was a signal for the visitors to push even harder. Just a few minutes later, Julian Draxler had an excellent chance to double the lead, but his left-foot shot was well stopped by Danijel Subasic. Monaco somehow survived until the halftime, but in the second 45 minutes, it was more of the same. Neymar hit the right post in the 48th minute after a beautiful team play, and just three minutes later he was brought down inside the box by Almamy Toure. The Brazilian star converted the penalty kick to score his 14th goal of the season in 15 appearances in all competitions.

Until the end of the game, we saw a couple of great chances for the visitors, but Edinson Cavani and particularly Kylian Mbappe just couldn’t get the third goal for The Parisians. Monaco cut the lead in the 81st minute after Joao Moutinho free-kick and a lucky deflection from Kylian Mbappe, but they couldn’t level the match, and they didn’t deserve to get something from this clash, as Paris SG was a far better team. The Parisians had the ball on their feet for the 66% of the time, and they made twice more passes than a home side.

After the first 14 rounds of the French Ligue 1 Paris SG is at the top of the table with 38 points, a 45:10 goal difference, and a 12-2-0 record, which is the best result in the Ligue 1 history at this stage of the championship. The Parisians were perfect on the home soil with seven wins out of seven matches with a 26:5 goal difference. On the road, they have recorded five victories and two draws with a 19:5 goal difference. Paris SG won four Ligue 1 matches in a row, scoring 14 goals in a process, and conceding two goals in a return.

The NCM trio is playing in a tremendous form so far in the French Ligue 1 – Edinson Cavani bagged 16 goals in 13 appearances, Neymar scored eight goals in 10 matches, while Kylian Mbappe netted four times in nine Ligue 1 games this season. Neymar is the team’s best assist-maker with six dishes, while the full-back Dani Alves made four assists in 10 appearances thus far. The German winger Julian Draxler scored two goals and made three assists in 12 apps, and he’s performing exceptionally well recently, even he’s moved to play in the midfield.

The manager Unai Emery is certainly pleased with his team’s form, and for the next match against Troyes, he cannot count on the experienced midfielder Thiago Motta (meniscus injury), while all other players are ready to go.

TROYES

Troyes is playing in an on-off form since the start of the season, and in the previous round of the French Ligue 1, they have easily beaten Angers, 3:0, in front of the home fans. It was their second victory in the previous five matches (they have also beaten Strasbourg, 3:0), along with three defeats Dijon, Caen, and Lyon.

Troyes had a perfect start of the match as Saif-Eddine Khaoui scored the opening goal in the 12th minute after Stephane Darbion’s terrific through ball behind Anger’s defenders, while the South Korean striker Hyun-Jun Suk made it 2:0 just before the halftime. Troyes was a better team for the most of the game, and they were controlling the rhythm in the second 45 minutes. In the 84th minute, they tripled the lead after Romain Thomas’ poor reaction and an own goal. The home side deservedly won three points, the second time in a row in front of the home fans.

After the first 14 rounds of the French Ligue 1, Troyes is sitting at the 11th spot of the table with 18 points, a 16:18 goal difference, and a 5-3-6 record, just four points above the danger zone. At home, they have earned 11 points with a 3-2-3 record and a 9:9 goal difference, failing to find the net in 50% of the home games, while on the road they have recorded two victories, one draw, and three losses with a 7:9 goal difference.

The 22-year old attacking midfielder Saif-Eddine Khaoui, who’s loaned from Marseille this summer) is the team’s leading scorer with four goals in 13 appearances, while the 26-year old striker Hyun-Jun Suk and a 24-year old forward Adama Niane bagged three goals each thus far. The 21-year old midfielder Samuel Grandsir is the team’s best assist-maker with four dishes in 14 appearances this season.

The manager Jean-Louis Garcia doesn’t have any injury worries among the squad, so he can field his best eleven against Parisians.

PARIS SG vs. TROYES – Match Prediction

The Parisians are massive favorites in this one, and I expect to see them winning with the bigger margin, even if they play in a lower gear. My safer pick here is to go with the over.

MY PICK: Over 4 goals (-133)
