New England Patriots rookie Quintayvious Hutchins pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a charge of assault and battery against a family/household member, according to documents from Newton (Massachusetts) District Court. Hutchins, 23, was arraigned Wednesday and released on personal recognizance, the court records show.
Court documents indicate the alleged incident occurred Tuesday at a Boston College residence hall. According to Boston College police, Hutchins is accused of grabbing a woman by the neck forcefully and pushing her with force in one of the school’s residence halls.
Boston College police said they questioned the alleged victim, who told them nothing happened. A residence-hall assistant told BC authorities that she heard a man and woman arguing in the hallway and, when she entered, saw Hutchins push and later put his hand around the neck of the alleged victim. The residence-hall assistant told police that Hutchins referred to the alleged victim as a “cheater,” per the report.
Per the police report, Hutchins told police he was holding the alleged victim’s phone, which he later threw once he received his ring back. The Patriots issued a statement saying, “We are aware of the report involving Quintayvious Hutchins. We take these matters very seriously and are in the process of gathering additional information,” according to the team.
The Patriots selected Hutchins with the final pick of the 2026 NFL draft, tabbing him 247th overall, and he spent 2021-2025 at Boston College, appearing in 43 games (16 starts) and totaling nine sacks, the documents say.
