Pebble Beach Pro Am Fantasy Lineup

Some of the best in the world will be on hand at Pebble Beach, California this weekend for the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The PGA Tour’s west coast swing continues with one of the lighter tournaments on the schedule with professionals teaming up with amateurs and celebrities. While DraftKings doesn’t allow you to put Justin Timberlake or Wayne Gretzky in your lineup you could still have some fun with the professional players. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for this week’s DraftKings PGA fantasy competitions.

Dustin Johnson, $11,800

Johnson hasn’t been playing his best golf of late but he has dominated at this event in past years with two wins and six top-10 finishes since 2008. While he will be one of the more popular and higher priced options on the board this week it only makes sense to start any DraftKings lineup with D.J., especially considering he is among the sports betting favorites to win the event outright with a number of other top players struggling over the past couple of weeks.

Patrick Reed, $8,300

Reed took a step back last week following a pair of top-12 performances to open the year but we fully expect him to bounce back with a strong outing this week. Reed ranked eighth on the PGA Tour in strokes gained around the green and eighth in Scrambling a year ago so he should be primed for a strong outing this week. Reed has never finished lower than 29th at this event in four appearances including a pair of top-10 finishes so he should be a strong value pick this weekend.

Webb Simpson, $8,200

Simpson is coming off a runner-up finish at the Waste Management Phoenix Open with an excellent opportunity to build on that performance when he hits the links at Pebble Beach. At $8.2K, Simpson is a very reasonably priced option with plenty of upside in DraftKings tournaments for this week.

Prior to the Waste Management Phoenix Open, he tied for 66th in the CareerBuilder but he did tie for 13th at the Sony Open back on January 12th.

Kevin Kisner, $7,400

Kisner is off to a strong start to the 2017 calendar year with a fourth place finish at the Sony Open and a top-25 finish at the CareerBuilder Challenge last week. At $7.4K, Kisner could be a steal if he can build on his strong start to 2017 at this week’s tournament.

He did get cut at the RSM Classic and tied for 70th at the WGC-HSBC Championship, but started the season with a tie for 26th at the CIMB Classic.

Adam Hadwin, $7,300

Hadwin is no longer the sneaky under the radar option he was at the start of last year but he is still a strong value pick considering his low price tag and his considerable upside. Hadwin followed up a runner-up finish at the CareerBuilder Challenge with a 12th place finish at the Waste Management Phoenix Open last week and he could be in for another strong performance at this week’s Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Hadwin has been one of the surprises of the young golf season and has exceeded expectations for the most part. Before the CareerBuilder, he had three results where he places in the Top 27 or better.

Vaughn Taylor, $6,900

We don’t expect Taylor to repeat and win here the way he did a year ago, but he is playing the most consistent golf of his career right now so it’s impossible to ignore his ridiculously low price tag. Taylor should be in for a strong performance with a chance to hang with the big boys in the tournament and that could mean a big payoff for us locking him in as the final pick in our optimal DraftKings lineup.

Taking a look at his recent performances, Taylor is coming off a so-so effort at the Phoenix Open. He finished 52nd. Prior to that, he finished in a tie for 41st at the Careerbuilder and a tie for 57th at the Sony Open. In his first four starts of the year, though, he had two results that were in the Top 24.
