Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Milwaukee Brewers Matchup 05/06/18

The Pittsburgh Pirates will be squaring off against their division rival Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park. Fox Sports Net Wisconsin will televise the matchup. The opening pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. ET.

Pittsburgh Pirates at Milwaukee Brewers Odds

Oddsmakers have listed Milwaukee (-150) as the favorite over Pittsburgh (+140). Bettors can wager on the game’s total with odds posted at -110 for over 9 runs and -110 for under 9. The game’s current runline odds sit at -155 for betting the Pirates +1.5 runs and +135 for the Brewers -1.5.

The Pirates are 18-16 SU and have gone 18-15 against the spread (ATS). They’ve gained 2.1 units for moneyline gamblers in this young season and 3.3 units ATS. Pittsburgh has covered the spread four times in its last seven games and the total has gone under in three of those seven. The Brewers, on the other hand, are 20-14 SU and 18-15 ATS. The Brewers are planning to start righty Chase Anderson (3-2, 3.38 ERA), who’s got 27 strikeouts and 14 walks to his credit, as well as a WHIP of 1.13. Anderson made three starts against the team in 2017, posting a perfect 3-0 record in 2017, compiling a spotless 3-0 record with a 1.56 ERA and 17 strikeouts.

Pittsburgh’s pitchers have allowed 4.6 runs per game and its starters own a 4.10 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 7.07 K/9. The bullpen has an ERA of 4.49, along with a K-per-9 of 9.45.

Milwaukee’s offense has produced 3.9 runs per outing, including 2.8 per game against divisional foes and 5.0 per game over its last five. The team’s hit .277/.342/.480 over its last five contests and is 4-1 SU during that stretch.

The Brewers’ batters have been led by Lorenzo Cain and Eric Thames. Cain is hitting .274/.390/.442 with four home runs, 10 RBIs, 19 runs and eight stolen bases, while the line for Thames stands at .250/.351/.625 with seven homers, 13 RBIs and 11 runs.

The Pirates have gained 1.5 units and are 15-13 ATS when facing a righty starter this season. The over has hit in 12 of those games, compared to 12 that’ve gone under in such games. On the other hand, the Brewers have netted 4.5 units and are 14-10 ATS when facing a right-handed starting pitcher. The over has hit in nine of those games, as opposed to 15 that’ve gone under.
