The PLAYERS Championship DFS Lineup

The PGA Tour will make its way to TPC Sawgrass this week for The PLAYERS Championship. Widely considered the fifth major of the season, 48 of the top 50 golfers in the world will participate in this week’s event. There will be more than $10 million on the line at The PLAYERS Championship. We went through the numbers to figure out the best combination of star talent and sleeper value picks to make sure we helped you build the best lineup to win some serious money as well in fantasy competitions. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for this week’s DraftKings PGA fantasy competitions.

Dustin Johnson, $12,000

The terrible conditions took their toll on Johnson in the second round of last week’s Wells Fargo Championship. If it wasn’t for mother nature wreaking havoc and leading to a brutal second round score, D.J. might very well be entering this week looking for his fourth straight victory. Johnson delivered back-to-back victories at the Genesis Open and the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship before finishing second at last week’s Wells Fargo Championship. He has placed in the top-three in each of his last four starts. With ideal conditions expected for this week, D.J. should continue his dominance as the sports betting favorite to win The PLAYERS Championship.

Justin Thomas, $8,900

There is a major drop in price point from Johnson to Thomas. However, a closer look at the numbers shows how valuable Thomas could be this week. Thomas has three wins, six top-10 results and eight top-25 finishes so far this season. That are ridiculously good numbers for a golfer that is available at $3K less than D.J. Thomas has finished in the top-25 in each of his first two starts at this event including a runner-up finish. He should be a solid pick at TPC Sawgrass again this week.

Russell Henley, $8,200

Henley is having an excellent year so far and there is a good chance it continues at The PLAYERS Championship this week. Henley has finished in the top-26 in each of his last three starts including a victory at the Shell Houston Open. His missed cut at this tournament last year has tempered expectations for this week. However, he did place in the top-25 in each of his previous two appearances at this event. At $8.2K, Henley is another solid value pick in DraftKings competitions this week.

Martin Kaymer, $7,300

The run on excellent value picks continues this week with Kaymer. The German has made the cut in all eight of his starts at TPC Sawgrass. More importantly, he won here in 2014 and he shares the course record. Kaymer has made 14 straight cuts overall including four top-25 finishes over his last five starts. At just $7.2K, Kaymer should be in pretty much every DraftKings lineup this week.

Adam Hadwin, $6,800

Hadwin had been on fire before finished 72nd at the Valero Texas Open. We expect a strong bounce back performance from him this week. Hadwin won the Valspar, recorded a top-10 finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and placed in the top-25 at the RBC Heritage before his last start. At under $7K, it’s easy to overlook his last performance when evaluating his potential for The PLAYERS Championship this week.

Kyle Stanley, $6,700

Stanley is coming off a rough performance at the RBC Heritage. However, he is having a solid season by his standards including top-25 finishes at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Shell Houston Open. Stanley should be well rested after getting some time off before this event. At just $6.7K, Stanley should be a solid value option in DraftKings competitions this week.
