Princeton defeats Brown to win the Ivy title

By defeating Brown 2-0 on Sunday at Bedford Field, the 2022 Princeton field hockey team not only preserved the amazing tradition of the program but also contributed to it. With the victory, Princeton clinched at least a share of the 27th Ivy League championship in program history, two more than all other teams combined. An Ivy League championship would be secured with a victory at Columbia next week or a Harvard defeat at Yale.

Princeton has also secured the Ivy League’s automatic ticket to the NCAA tournament, which starts in two weeks, regardless of what happens next week. After the clock struck zero, Princeton had avoided missing out on an Ivy title and NCAA berth in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1992 and 1993. These two victories occurred one year after the Tigers were denied both by an agonizingly small margin.
