The UFC has announced that Jiri Prochazka and Carlos Ulberg will meet for the vacant light heavyweight championship at UFC 327, confirming that former titleholder Alex Pereira has given up the belt. The matchup positions Prochazka, a former champion, against Ulberg, a fast-rising contender, with the winner set to emerge as the new leader of the 205-pound division.

Prochazka returns to a championship setting after previously holding the light heavyweight title. Known for his aggressive style, high-paced striking, and unorthodox movement, he has been one of the division’s most dynamic figures in recent years. His willingness to engage and his record of stoppage victories have made him a consistent presence near the top of the rankings whenever he is active and healthy.

Ulberg, meanwhile, steps into his first UFC title opportunity. The New Zealand-based fighter has built momentum through a series of strong performances that showcased his technical kickboxing, composure under pressure, and continued improvement in all areas of mixed martial arts. His rise through the division has positioned him as a legitimate challenger capable of testing any established name at 205 pounds.

The decision to match Prochazka and Ulberg for a vacant title follows Pereira’s choice to vacate his light heavyweight belt. With the championship now unoccupied, the UFC has moved quickly to ensure the division has a new standard-bearer, pairing a former champion with a surging contender to determine who will guide the next phase of the weight class.

UFC 327 will now feature a central storyline around the direction of the light heavyweight division. For Prochazka, the bout is a chance to reclaim a title he once held and reassert himself at the top of the sport. For Ulberg, it is an opportunity to capture UFC gold for the first time and establish himself as the new champion in one of the organization’s historically prominent divisions.

With the belt vacated and a new matchup in place, the light heavyweight title picture is set for a significant reset at UFC 327, where Prochazka and Ulberg will compete to become the next UFC light heavyweight champion.
