Quarterbacks to watch for the 2027 NFL draft

The 2027 NFL draft is expected to feature a deep group of quarterbacks after the past two drafts produced only two first-round QBs each year, according to the report. Household names such as Texas’ Arch Manning and Oregon’s Dante Moore are among the top prospects highlighted, and the preview introduces 22 signal-callers that NFL evaluators are watching.

The list includes Texas Tech’s Brendan Sorsby despite uncertainty over his status for the 2026 season and the 2027 draft. Sorsby was deemed ineligible by the school and the NCAA after admitting to making hundreds of bets on college sports, the report notes.

NC State’s CJ Bailey is a 6-foot-6, 210-pound junior who threw for 3,105 yards with 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions in his second season as a starter. Scouts praise his arm strength to drive the ball through the middle of the field and his ability to complete vertical passes, as well as his effectiveness in designed quarterback runs thanks to long strides. Concerns include the need to add mass, mixed performances in big games (five of his nine interceptions came against ranked opponents, including Notre Dame and Miami) and occasional mechanical issues under pressure that lead to poor ball placement or avoidable sacks.

Notre Dame’s CJ Carr, a 6-2, 215-pound redshirt sophomore, finished with 2,741 passing yards, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions. Evaluators note an easy throwing motion that produces tight spirals, coordinated footwork and the ability to buy time and gain yards on the ground. Multiple scouts cited Carr as a popular candidate to climb into Round 1, though he must reduce forced, chaotic plays—often caused by overzealous attempts to extend plays—and learn to rely more on checkdowns or throwing the ball away to avoid turnovers and sacks.

Ole Miss’ Trinidad Chambliss, a 6-foot, 205-pound sixth-year senior and transfer from Division II Ferris State, assumed the starting role in Game 3 and helped Ole Miss reach the College Football Playoff semifinals. He passed for 3,937 yards with 22 touchdowns and three interceptions and added 527 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns, showcasing production as both a runner and a passer.
