The Las Vegas Raiders announced Monday that Klint Kubiak has been named the new head coach of the franchise. The hiring comes one day after Kubiak played a role in the Seattle Seahawks’ victory in Super Bowl LX, where he served as the team’s offensive coordinator.
Kubiak steps into the role following a strong season with the Seahawks, where his offensive leadership contributed to the team’s championship run. His hiring marks a new chapter for the Raiders as they look to build consistency and competitiveness in the AFC West.
The 36-year-old coach is part of a well-known football family. He is the son of Gary Kubiak, a Super Bowl-winning head coach and longtime NFL offensive mind. Klint Kubiak began his coaching career in 2010 and has since held various roles, including offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for multiple NFL teams. His recent success in Seattle helped elevate his profile around the league.
Kubiak will bring his experience working with different offensive systems and quarterbacks to a Raiders team seeking improvement on that side of the ball. Over the past season, the Raiders struggled with offensive consistency and ranked in the bottom half of the league in several statistical categories. The team hopes that Kubiak’s system, combined with young talent and future roster moves, can help reinvigorate the franchise.
“We are excited to welcome Klint to the Raiders organization,” the team said in a statement issued Monday. “His leadership, innovative offensive approach, and commitment to development align with the direction we are striving for.”
Kubiak’s predecessor was interim head coach Antonio Pierce, who was elevated following a midseason coaching change. The Raiders conducted a comprehensive search after the season before finalizing their decision to hire Kubiak.
More details regarding Kubiak’s coaching staff and vision for the team are expected to be shared in his introductory press conference later this week.
