Raw Recap: Kalisto Dethrones Enzo Amore

Tonight, Monday Night Raw features a ton of headline-worthy content. This week’s episode includes the return of the Shield, a women’s Fatal Five-Way match to determine who will face Asuka at TLC, the arrival of Sister Abigail, and Enzo Amore defending the Cruiserweight Championship against Kalisto in the main event.

MizTV: The Mizzies, Part II (feat. Sheamus & Cesaro)
For the second time ever, The Miz hosts his own award show version of MizTV, The Mizzies. Because of the destruction of Roman Reigns last week, Curtis Axel earns the Perseverance Award, while Sheamus and Cesaro tie for the Best Supporting Actor Mizzie. Lastly, the Mizzie goes to, well, The Miz for “leading the charge” in the attacks of Roman Reigns.

Reigns appears on the entrance ramp and The Miz immediately taunts him, asking where his former Shield teammates are. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose then show up and wipe out everybody in the ring, ending the assault with their signature triple powerbomb.

Jason Jordan vs. Karl Anderson (w/Luke Gallows)
Last week, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson scored a key victory over Matt Hardy and Jason Jordan, who paired up now that Jeff Hardy is recovering from shoulder surgery. Now, Jordan takes on Anderson in singles competition.

Even with distractions from Gallows, Jason Jordan still managed to pick up the win with his signature pop-up neckbreaker. Winner: Jason Jordan

Announcement
At TLC, The Miz and The Bar will take on the Shield in a TLC match to main event the Raw-exclusive Pay-Per-View with the same name. The Shield debuted in a TLC match in 2012, where they defeated Team Hell No (Kane and Daniel Bryan) and Ryback.

Elias Samson vs. Apollo Crews (w/Titus O’Neil)
For the third week in a row, Elias Samson battles Titus Worldwide. Samson has defeated both Titus O’Neil and Apollo Crews regardless of the numbers game.

Yet again, Samson defeated Crews after finishing him off with Drift Away. Winner: Elias Samson

In-ring Segment
Enzo Amore comes down to the ring to address the fact that at TLC, he will defend the Cruiserweight Championship against Kalisto. Amore calls out Raw General Manager Kurt Angle to explain how this is possible and after annoying Angle too much, the GM changes the match to tonight. Amore only has one condition for this title defense: it has to be in the main event. Angle then decides to put the “no contact clause” on hold to make this match a Lumberjack Match, with the entire 205 Live roster surrounding the ring.

Braun Strowman vs. Matt Hardy
As mentioned before, Matt Hardy is going at it by himself for a little while since his brother Jeff is injured. Hardy is one of the most successful WWE Superstars ever, winning several championships in his 20+ year career.

Hardy hits his signature Twist of Fate, but Strowman kicks out at one. The Monster Among Men then chokeslams the former Raw Tag Team Champion twice, followed by a powerslam for the win. Winner: Braun Strowman

Strowman looks to further the assault, but he is stopped by The Shield. Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose surround Strowman and send him crashing through the announce table with the triple powerbomb.

Cedric Alexander & Mustafa Ali vs. Gentleman Jack Gallagher & The Brian Kendrick
For the past few weeks on 205 Live, Cedric Alexander has been feuding with Jack Gallagher and The Brian Kendrick. Just last week, Alexander took on Gallagher and forced a disqualification by assaulting him with his own umbrella, William III. Since this isn’t even unless Alexander has a partner, he recruits one of the most impressive Superstars on 205 Live, Mustafa Ali.

Announcements
For some reason, the TLC main event has turned into a 4-on-3 handicap match with the Shield now facing The Miz, Sheamus, Cesaro, and Braun Strowman. Also, Roman Reigns will have another match against Braun Strowman next week but this time, it is inside a steel cage.

Dana Brooke vs. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley vs. Alicia Fox vs. Emma – Elimination Match
At TLC, former and longest-reigning NXT Women’s Champion Asuka makes her main roster debut. All five of these women were trying to convince Kurt Angle to face Asuka at the Pay-Per-View, so Angle decided to put them all in a match with the winner heading to battle the Empress of Tomorrow.

Right after Sasha Banks eliminated Alicia Fox with the Bank Statement, Emma rolls Banks up to win the opportunity to lose to Asuka. Winner: Emma

Enzo Amore (c) vs. Kalisto – WWE Cruiserweight Championship (Lumberjack Match)
For the first time in his career, Enzo Amore has to defend a championship. With the entire Cruiserweight Division around the ring, Amore cannot get counted out or disqualified, and his “no contact” clause is void for this match. This means that the entire roster can assault Amore with no consequences.

After Amore hits Jordan-zo (or whatever it’s called), he tries to pin Kalisto, but his efforts are thwarted by Mustafa Ali. After Ali ruins the pin, Kalisto hits the Salida Del Sol from the top rope, laying out Muscles Marinara and becoming the new Champion. Winner, and NEW Cruiserweight Champion: Kalisto
