Reed Betting Odds Favorite, Rory Second As Masters Heads To Final Round

The Masters

Patrick Reed surprised a lot of people with his performance in the second round when he shot a 66 and he backed it up on Saturday with a 67. That extended his lead from two strokes entering the round to three entering the final round. As a result, he’s still the favorite, according to BetDSI Sportsbook, but Rory McIlroy is hot on his heels.

While Reed has played incredibly well throughout this tournament, there’s no question that he stumbled a bit at the end of the third round. After nailing an eagle on the 15th hole to move to -15, he immediately bogeyed the 16th to give a stroke back. Then on the 18th, he seemed to have a very makeable birdie putt but just missed it. He could be up by as many as five strokes but as of now, the lead is cut down to three.

Why that’s important is because McIlroy is charging hard. He shot a 65 on Saturday to move to -11. He didn’t bogey a single hole on Saturday, which shows you just how dialed in he is. More importantly, he’s got a pedigree whereas this could be new territory for Reed. They’ll be partnered together on Sunday.

The oddsmakers don’t really feel like anybody else will have a chance on Sunday as Rickie Fowler is third in line and Jon Rahm is fourth. Both shot 65’s on Saturday and Fowler is at -9 and Rahm is at -8. They’re within striking distance but they’ll need both Reed and McIlroy to cool off, could be a lot to ask. Beyond them, Henrik Stenson is posted at +3000 and Bubba Watson is at +4000. Watson shot a 68 to sit at -6 (tied for sixth) and Stenson shot a 70 to drop to -7 (fifth place). The best rounds we’ve seen to date are 65’s, so both will need to post that kind of a round on Sunday if they are to make it to the top of the board.
