According to ESPN, Rory McIlroy became the sixth men’s golfer to complete a career Grand Slam after winning the 2025 Masters. The report notes that Scottie Scheffler now needs only a U.S. Open to complete a career Grand Slam, while Jordan Spieth and Phil Mickelson each need one major — the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open, respectively.

The report reminds readers that men’s golf measures major success by wins at the Masters, the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open and the Open Championship, while also noting that the Masters is often viewed as the most prestigious of the four. Any major victory, the report says, is considered a notable achievement for a professional golfer.

The report lists six men who have completed career Grand Slams. Rory McIlroy: Masters (2025), Open Championship (2014), PGA Championship (2012), U.S. Open (2011). Tiger Woods: Open Championship (2000), U.S. Open (2000), PGA Championship (1999), Masters (1997). Jack Nicklaus: Open Championship (1966), PGA Championship (1963), Masters (1963), U.S. Open (1962).

Also listed are Gary Player: U.S. Open (1965), PGA Championship (1962), Masters (1961), Open Championship (1959); Ben Hogan: Open Championship (1953), Masters (1951), U.S. Open (1948), PGA Championship (1946); and Gene Sarazen: Masters (1935), Open Championship (1932), PGA Championship (1922), U.S. Open (1922), per the report.

On the women’s side, the report says seven LPGA golfers have completed career Grand Slams by winning four different majors, and that Karrie Webb is the only player to achieve a super career Grand Slam after a fifth major was added in 2013. The report also identifies Lydia Ko, Anna Nordqvist and In Gee Chun as each being one tournament away from completing a career Grand Slam.

The report lists the women who have completed career Grand Slams and their major wins: Inbee Park: Women’s Open (2015), Women’s PGA Championship (2013), Chevron Championship (2013), U.S. Open (2008). Annika Sorenstam: Women’s Open (2003), Women’s PGA Championship (2003), Chevron Championship (2001), U.S. Open (1995). Karrie Webb: Women’s Open (2002), Women’s PGA Championship (2001), U.S. Open (2000), Chevron Championship (2000), du Maurier Classic (1999). Juli Inkster, Pat Bradley, Mickey Wright and Louise Suggs are also listed with their major victories, per the report. The report points readers to the ESPN golf hub for breaking news, rankings, scores and more.
