Golf Odds: Rory McIlroy is the favorite to win the 2015 Race to Dubai. The world’s top ranked golfer won the 2014 Race to Dubai and he begins the 2015 as the solid favorite to defend his title. Let’s look at the odds and see if there are any challengers to McIlroy.

The 2015 Race to Dubai will be slightly different as the European Tour decided to switch to a points-based system. The new system will have every Euro earned being converted to a Race to Dubai point. The previous system used Euros during the regular season but then converted them into points for the Final Series. “We believe that changing to a points system will help simplify and indeed enhance the narrative structure of the Race to Dubai, and particularly the Final Series,” said European Tour COO Keith Waters.
Rory McIlroy
The favorite to win the 2015 Race to Dubai is Rory McIlroy who has already won the title twice in the past. The world’s number one golfer has one big goal in mind for 2015 and it is not the Race to Dubai trophy.
“Green jacket,” McIlroy said, “That’s the only one left to complete the collection. I’ve got a chance to complete the career grand slam at 25, something I never thought would be possible. So I’m going to work really hard and make sure I’m ready to go for April.”
McIlroy had a super 2014 season as he won the Race to Dubai and he was chosen unanimously as the Race to Dubai European Tour Golfer of the Year. McIlroy won four times in 2014 including wins in two majors, the Open Championship and the PGA Championship. He became the first player to finish on top of both the PGA Tour and European Tour money lists in the same year twice.
Challengers
If McIlroy plays well then there are no real challengers because when he is on his game there is no one better. But in case McIlroy stumbles or had another girlfriend problem that distracts him then taking one or two longshots might be interesting in Race to Dubai odds. Stenson doesn’t hold a lot of value at 5-1 but there is definitely some value on Rose as 10-1 and despite Garcia being a player who normally chokes in the clutch, he has played really well the past couple of years and at 18-1 has some value. And don’t forget about Dubuisson who is showing that he will be a player to watch in coming years.
