After a wild five days in Berlin, the MSI 2018 Semifinals are set. While no one can be shocked at the final four teams, how we got to this point was very surprising.

Coming into MSI 2018, Kingzone DragonX were the overwhelming favorites. BetDSI listed them as a -350 favorite to win the event. The question most were asking wasn’t whether or not they would win the tournament, but how many games they would drop on their way to the title.

However, following a dominating first day, Kingzone struggled. They lost to each of the other semifinalists and dropped both of their matches against the Flash Wolves. That led to them finishing 6-4 and in third place in the group stage. Only BDD and Gorilla have continued to play at a high level, while Khan, Peanut, and Pray have struggled.

Royal Never Give Up and Flash Wolves finished tied atop of the group at 7-3. Since those teams split their two matches during the group stage, that led to a tiebreaker for first place and the right to choose their opponent. RNG raced out to a quick lead and never looked back with superstar AD Carry Uzi looking unstoppable on Ezreal.

There was a tiebreaker match for the last spot at the MSI 2018 Semifinals too. Team Liquid battled back from an 0-4 start to get to 4-6 at the end of the group stage. That led to a tiebreaker match with Fnatic to determine which Western team would make it into the last four and give their region bragging rights ahead of Rift Rivals. Fnatic proved to be too much for Liquid with Broxah and Caps playing very well in the victory.

Once the tiebreaker matches were over and the four teams were decided, RNG announced what everyone already expected. RNG decided that they wanted to play Fnatic with a spot in the finals on the line and will face the European champions in just three days in Paris. Kingzone and Flash Wolves will square off the next day for the other place in the finals.

Check back later in the week for individual previews for each match. BetDSI will be the first to post odds on the MSI 2018 Semifinals.
