RuPaul’s Drag Race Recap: Don’t Poke the Bear

RuPaul's Drag Race

Last week, RuPaul’s Drag Race said goodbye to Dusty Ray Bottoms, my second favorite, but it’s a new week and the ones who are left are:

Blair St. Clair, 22, from Indianapolis, Indiana
Dusty Ray Bottoms, 29,
 from New York, New York
Monet X Change, 27,
 from The Bronx, New York
Asia O’Hara, 35,
 from Dallas, Texas
Miz Cracker, 33, from New York, New York
Eureka, from Tennessee
Kameron Michaels, 31, from Nashville, Tennessee
Mayhem Miller, 35, from Riverside, California
Monique Heart, 31, from Kansas City, Missouri
Kalorie Kardashian Williams, 27, from Albuquerque, New Mexico
The Vixen, 26, from Chicago, Illinois
Aquaria, 21, from Brooklyn, New York

RuPaul’s Drag RaceRace opensh Asia talking about how she helped everyone, but that nobody helped her. The Vixen talks about Eureka and how all she cares about is Eureka. It’s getting catty in here!

In the first mini-challenge, the ladies must transform themselves into an army of fierce drag queens. The winner was…

The RuPaul’s Drag Race maxi-challenge: the girls will be guests on Bossy Rossy (Ross Matthews) and show off their improv comedy chops. Because The Vixen won the challenge, she gets to choose her partner and pairs up the other contestants.

Monet and Cameron will compete in “My Freaky Addiction is Ruining My Life.”
The Vixen and Asia will be in “Why Are You So Obsessed With Me?”
Blair and Monique will be in “I Married a Cactus.”
Aquaria and Eureka will be in “Look at Me, I’m a Sexy Baby!”
Miz Cracker and Mayhem will be in “Save Me From My Deadly Fear of Pickles!”

Asia talks about how this partnership with The Vixen can go one of two ways — good because she’s won challenges or venomous if Asia doesn’t get her way.  They are going to do a copycat of Eureka and Aquaria, which will definitely stir the pot among the contestants.

The contestants start to put their ideas together and Miz Cracker is dying to wear the pickle. Eureka talks about how she’s worried about Mayhem who doesn’t seem to be putting her best out there. Blair and Monique talk about their routine and ‘safe word’ for the routine and they choose “Vaaaaannn-geee!” Too funny

It’s time for the routines and Blair and Monique are up first. Ross tells Blair that her husband (a cactus) has been cheating on her and the cheating woman is played by Monique. This Jerry Springer parody is hilarious. Monet and Cameron are up next in “My Freaky Addiction is Ruining My Life.” Monet is stumbling through this a little, talking about a freaky addiction. When Cameron comes out, she definitely outshines Monet. Miz Cracker and Mayhem are up next and Mayhem plays the one who is afraid of pickles. Mayhem sits next to Dr. Dill, dressed in a pickle suit, but Mayhem isn’t selling her phobia about the pickle well. Miz Cracker did a great job.

Next is The Vixen, who talks about Asia being obsessed with her. This isn’t going over well, in my opinion. Asia comes out, dressed the same, and yes, they should’ve rehearsed this, but Asia isn’t copying anything she’s doing. Dressed as a sexy baby, Aquaria comes out as a baby in “Look at Me, I’m a Sexy Baby!” Eureka comes out as another sexy baby. So far, I like Eureka better in this routine. The routine itself is funny, but this isn’t my favorite bit.

It’s time for the runway walk and, of course, more cattiness about who they want to go home.  “Don’t Poke the Bear” is a saying that they use with The Vixen because she really gets angry and nobody wants any part of it.

Eureka and The Vixen talk about their differences and it seems that they have more in common then they realized.

Strutting their stuff in denim and diamonds, the SnapShop competition is next.

Monet didn’t get good reviews about her performance. The Vixen gets great reviews about her costume, but her performance doesn’t get the same. Eureka gets great reviews about her costume and her performance as a big sexy baby. Monique Heart gets good feedback on her runway outfit and her cactus moments were strong. Mayhem Miller doesn’t get great reviews on her pink denim outfit and her character in the pickle performance. Miz Cracker gets called “exceptional” for her Dr. Dill performance.

The winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race this week — Eureka! Monique Heart and The Vixen are also safe. Monet XChange and Mayhem Miller had to dance and sing for their lives. Monet XChange earns the right for one more week, while Mayhem Miller is eliminated.

I’ve changed the order of my favorites:

Blair St. Clair, 22, from Indianapolis, Indiana
Dusty Ray Bottoms, 29,
 from New York, New York
Miz Cracker, 33, from New York, New York
Asia O’Hara, 35, from Dallas, Texas
Eureka, from Tennessee
Kameron Michaels, 31, from Nashville, Tennessee
Mayhem Miller, 35, from Riverside, California
Monique Heart, 31, from Kansas City, Missouri
Kalorie Kardashian Williams, 27, from Albuquerque, New Mexico
The Vixen, 26, from Chicago, Illinois
Aquaria, 21, from Brooklyn, New York
