Salido vs Vargas Odds For HBO Boxing Saturday

Salido vs Vargas Odds

Salido vs Vargas Odds – The StubHub Center in Carson, California hosts HBO boxing this Saturday night, and the main event sees Francisco Vargas (23-0-1) defend his 130-lb WBC world title against Mexico’s rugged Orlando Salido (43-13-3).

This fight is “must watch” on paper. Vargas won his WBC title back in November in a war against Japan’s Takashi Miura. Vargas hit the canvas in round four but got up and remained composed. By round nine he had Miura down and the referee stepped in to stop it. There was talk that the stoppage came a bit early by referee Tony Weeks, and that Miura should have been allowed to continue. For Vargas, he needs a win with some flash to put the controversial win against Miura behind him.

Salido has been a part of a drawn out negotiation with Puerto Rico´s Roman Martinez as the pair are looking to fight for the third team in what is a heated rivalry. When that fight fell apart, Salido signed to face Vargas in his quest for another world title. Salido has been fighting top shelf competition for many years, and he owns big wins over Juan Manuel Lopez (twice) and Vasyl Lomachenko so he not only hangs, he has defeated some of the best. He effectively ended Juan Manuel Lopez’ career, handing him a pair of destructive TKOs and the win over Lomachenko was the only loss the decorated Russian has experienced as a pro. Salido is a tough test for anybody.

Julian Ramirez (16-0) faces off against Abraham Lopez (20-0-1) in a showdown of undefeated fighters at featherweight (126 lbs). Both have fought extensively on Golden Boy’s smaller shows, such as their L.A. Fight Club series at the Belasco Theater or their Fantasy Springs casino shows. Both men fought and won on the same card this past January 29th and this fight is certainly a step up for both men as they are appearing on HBO for the first time. Lopez has more experience and, at 28, he is a bit further along in the maturation process, but the southpaw Ramirez is the hot prospect in this one. Golden Boy is asking both men to pass a test with this fight.

In the middleweight division, veteran Gabriel Rosado (22-9) returns to face 22-year-old Antonio Gutierrez (20-1-1). Rosado has been in there with everyone, including Gennady Golovkin, David Lemieux, Jermall Charlo and Peter Quillin. Gutierrez has a lot of fights on his record but this is the first fight on his resume that is not a four or six round bout.
