The report says striker Sam Kerr will leave Chelsea when her contract expires at the end of the season.
The report says Kerr has scored 115 times in 157 appearances for the club since joining in January 2020, leaving her one goal shy of Chelsea’s record goalscorer Fran Kirby.
Per the report, Kerr has been a key figure during a period of sustained success for the Blues, twice winning the Women’s Super League Golden Boot and helping the club secure five WSL titles, three Women’s FA Cups and three League Cups. The report adds that this season she has scored 16 goals and is Chelsea’s leading WSL scorer.
Kerr, identified in the report as 32 years old, reflected on her time with the club on its website, saying she feels happy and grateful to have played for Chelsea for six years and to have won as many trophies as possible. The club expressed its appreciation in a statement, thanking her for her contribution on the pitch and for her role in the club’s off-field growth, and wishing her well for the next chapter of her career, per the report.
The report notes there were difficult periods as well: Kerr was sidelined for 20 months after sustaining a knee ligament injury in January 2024. The report says Kerr, who captains the Australia national team, is set to make her final appearance for Chelsea in Saturday’s WSL clash with Manchester United.
