In the Tigers’ last outing, they were dismantled by the Vanderbilt Commodores, 120-85. Vanderbilt made good use of their 25 trips to the charity stripe, making 21 of them (84.0 percent). Savannah State, on the other hand, was just 9-14 (64.3 percent). Collins Joseph was the game’s leading scorer with 21 points on 8-for-10 shooting.

The Runnin’ Bulldogs were victorious over the USC Upstate Spartans in their last game, 74-61. With 16 points and 11 rebounds, Eric Jamison had a good performance for Gardner-Webb.

It could be a sloppy game for the Gardner-Webb offense. Dating back to last season, Gardner-Webb ranks 251st in the nation in ball protection (turnover percentage of 19.6 percent), while the disruptive defense of Savannah State has forced the 49th-most turnovers in the country (21.2 percent).
